Somewhere in the West Loop, Adom and I reverted to our former carefree, kid-free selves. We went to Coalfire and ate pizza without doling out crayons, Cheerios and other various child distraction tools. We met friends for a drink and I even imbibed in a shot of tequila. We stayed up until 2 AM watching Downton Abbey with the volume up and the lights on. It was wonderful. It was magical. It was not reality.
Truthfully, it was lovely to eat with both of my hands and not have Adom feed me pizza while attending to Ani. It was cool to hang out in a bar with friends after 7:30 PM. It was delightful to watch television at a normal volume and stay up late and make as much noise as we wanted.
In the morning, however, we were ready for reality. We were ready for Ani's 5:30 AM wake-up call. We were ready for stinky diapers and far flung breakfast food. Little clothes, little feet, BIG noises. We missed you. We enjoyed our carefree, kid-free times. We love and cherish our times with you!
